Internal Workings
The plastic-cased body has a central well for the UPMAH-2 fuze. An arming pin holds the fuze plunger in place. The main charge is housed in a cylindrical plastic body with a threaded fuze well on the top surface. The body of the fuze is made from black Bakelite, with the plunger and prongs made from Polystyrene. Pressure on the fuze prongs forces the base of the plunger into a friction-sensitive composition to initiate the detonator and main charge.
When wet, the friction sensitive compound may fail. When the compound dries out, the compound may then function as designed.
